The 2024 Daytona 500 is nine days away, and NASCAR couldn’t be more excited for the official start of the 2024 season. The Cup Series went to Los Angeles for the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum last weekend; however, it doesn’t compare to Daytona. With the season starting soon, one NASCAR team could make a surprising entry into The Great American Race.
According to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass, NY Racing still could enter the 2024 Daytona 500. The possibility of NY Racing attempting the race hasn’t been ruled out, but they haven’t competed since 2022 with Greg Biffle. Would the NASCAR organization indeed return after a one-year hiatus? This has been a problem with open entries in the past.
Due to financial reasons, it is hard for non-chartered organizations to survive in the NASCAR Cup Series, and NY Racing is no different. They didn’t compete in 2023, but a return to the 2024 Daytona 500 would represent a 42nd entry. If it happens, two drivers wouldn’t qualify for the event based on the announced entries to this point.
