2024 Grammys: Joni Mitchell brought the entire room to tears with a beautiful performance

It’s probably easier to ask who didn’t cry at this point.

Joni Mitchell has been an icon in the music world for decades, and — for the first time ever on Sunday night — she performed at the Grammy Awards. Mitchell, who was introduced by singer Brandi Carlisle, sang her heartbreakingly beautiful song “Both Sides Now.”

The entire auditorium was silent, looking on with glistening eyes as the 80-year-old “Big Yellow Taxi” singer serenaded an enraptured crowd. As the camera panned the room, everyone from Dua Lipa to Beyoncé to Meryl Streep to Taylor Swift looked up in teary awe. It was a truly beautiful moment.
