The Philadelphia 76ers are beginning the process of figuring out the best course of action for Joel Embiid as they await the severity of his knee injury. The Sixers announced that the big fella has been diagnosed with a meniscus injury in his left knee.
As the Sixers now move on, the question becomes what are the treatment options for Embiid? How many games could he miss? Where do the Sixers go from here?
The Sixes will go one of two ways with this decision:
- Let Embiid rehab and try and work him back slowly.
- Have Embiid undergo surgery and have him miss an extended period of time.
It should be known that while there have been reports that Embiid has a meniscus tear, that hasn’t been confirmed yet. Therefore, one can only speculate on the possible treatment options moving forward.
If the option of letting him rehab the knee comes to the forefront, then there’s a possibility that he can return in the regular season and ramp things up before the playoffs. One has to figure that this option is the one the Sixers are hoping for.
If he has to undergo surgery, then Embiid will likely be lost for the season. As Philadelphia moves forward, it has to consider all options. Embiid is the face of the franchise and everything the Sixers do revolves around him and his health out on the floor. They don’t want to rush into anything and that is why this is such a delicate situation.
