There’s going to be plenty of discussion about the Chicago Bears and projected No. 1 pick Caleb Williams leading up to the 2024 NFL draft.
There have already been rumors that Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears, whether it was Williams liking a tweet saying Chicago shouldn’t draft him or Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd going on his show, “The Herd,” and saying Williams doesn’t want to play for the Bears.
But Cowherd walked back those comments on Friday after Williams’ camp reached out to him about them being painted as “anti-Chicago.” It was an indication that Cowherd was asserting his opinion as fact.
“I got a call from the Caleb Williams camp, and they went, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,’ ” Cowherd said. “Colin, we don’t want to be painted as anti-Chicago, and we don’t want to be painted as anti-Bear.”

While the Bears haven’t made a decision about their direction at quarterback, many analysts and people around the league believe they will draft Williams with the first overall pick.
Despite the anti-Chicago rumors that have swirled, the funny thing is that the Bears would actually be a favorable landing spot for Williams. Chicago didn’t finish with the worst record in the league. In fact, they made strides during the second half of the season, have an ascending defense and weapons on offense, and the arrow is certainly pointed up. They also have another top-10 selection that could be used to build around Williams.
