Rutgers lacrosse: Three players were named Preseason Players to Watch by the Big Ten

Rutgers lacrosse earned preseason all-conference recognition from the Big Ten when three players were named Big Ten Players to Watch.

Rutgers lacrosse earned preseason all-conference recognition from the Big Ten when Jack Aimone, Shane Knobloch, and Ross Scott were named Big Ten Players to Watch on Thursday. It is the first Preseason Players to Watch selection for Aimone, while Scott (three times) and Knobloch (twice) have received this recognition multiple times.

Also, this is the second preseason recognition for Knobloch and Scott this week, as the two Scarlet Knights were named Preseason All-Americans by USA Lacrosse Magazine and Inside Lacrosse on Monday.

Aimone, a senior midfielder, is an impactful player on Rutgers’ offense. As a junior last season, the Ringoes, New Jersey, native posted 25 goals and seven assists and is the third-ranking returning scorer for the Scarlet Knights. Aimone has recorded 34 goals, nine assists, and 43 points while appearing in 31 games in three seasons with the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers 2024 team captain Knobloch was named First Team Preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine and Second Team by Inside Lacrosse. According to Inside Lacrosse, Knobloch was ranked the No. 33 player in the nation.

Knobloch enters his senior season, being named an All-American after each season with the Scarlet Knights. The Moorestown, New Jersey native recorded 21 goals, two game-winners, and 17 assists within 14 games last season. In three seasons with the Scarlet Knights, Knobloch has logged 69 goals and 38 assists in 46 games.

As for Scott, he was named an Honorable Mention selection by both publications on Monday. The Rutgers 2024 captain is ranked No. 26 on Inside Lacrosse’s Top 50 Players Preseason List. The West Linn, Oregon native appeared in 52 career games for the Scarlet Knights, recording 89 goals, 48 assists, and seven game-winners.
