The Tennessee Titans made a massive addition to their coaching staff, as the team is hiring head coach Brian Callahan’s dad, Bill Callahan, as their next offensive line coach.
The news comes from Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer and the hire makes NFL history, as Brian is the first head coach to hire his dad to his staff.
In case you aren’t familiar with Bill Callahan, let me assure you this is not some case of nepotism.
Papa Callahan is one of the most respected offensive line coaches in the league and is an absolute home-run hire, especially for a Titans team that is set to rebuild its entire offensive line, minus one spot (LG Peter Skoronski).
On the surface, Brian Callahan and general manager Ran Carthon are putting together some staff.
Tennessee has also added Tyke Tolbert as wide receivers coach and Dennard Wilson as the defensive coordinator, both of whom were two of the most sought-after candidates for their respective positions.
If you don’t believe me in regard to how huge this hiring is, just take a look at the reaction from Twitter. Titans fans and media were especially hyped for the addition of Callahan to the staff.
