The NBA announced its recipients for January’s Coach of the Month awards, and Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault was nominated for it. This is the third straight month (October/November and December) Daigneault has been nominated for the award.
Daigneault helped lead the Thunder through a brutal month in which they played 17 games in 31 days, including five back-to-backs. During that stretch, OKC went a successful 11-6.
The Thunder are 33-15 and in second place in the Western Conference standings. After finishing second in Coach of the Year voting last season, Daigneault continues his ascension as one of the best head coaches in the league.
LA Clippers head coach Ty Lue won the Western Conference honor. Other nominees were Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and Phoenix Suns head coach Frank Vogel. The East winner was New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.
The Thunder had two other nominees for the league’s monthly awards: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for Player of the Month and Chet Holmgren for Rookie of the Month.
