Jim Harbaugh lands with the Los Angeles Chargers

A move that is years in the making, former Michigan head coach and national champion Jim Harbaugh will be taking his talents from Michigan across the country to the big leagues as he transitions into his role as head coach of he Los Angeles Chargers.

This will be Harbaugh’s second stint in the league after spending four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers where he led them to a 44-19-1 record as well as a Super Bowl appearance where his brother’s Baltimore Ravens ultimately defeated him. Harbaugh was ultimately let go after an internal battle with team leadership and a mediocre final season but was still one of the top head coaching candidates after his departure from the team.

Harbaugh’s success continued on to college with him where he guided Michigan to an 86-25 over nine years including a national championship win over Washington in his final season. His coaching style has brought success wherever he has gone and with a franchise quarterback established on his newest team, it could mean a dream season for Harbaugh and the Chargers for a match made in heaven.

If Harbaugh can come in and fix an inherently and historically broken Chargers franchise he could solidify himself as one of a few true coaching elites in the league. While his tough and physical style of football will be a difficult one to establish on a more finesse team in Los Angeles, he should be able to mold this roster to his liking and have enough to work around with quarterback Justin Herbert under the helm.
