The Saturday of one one the most roller coaster weeks in WWE history has finally arrived. The scene shifts to St. Petersburg, Fla. and Tropicana Field where the focus, at least for a few hours, will shift back to what goes on inside the ring at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Tonight’s event will feature one of the smallest cards of any major wrestling show in recent memory with just four matches. Yet thanks to the nature of the Royal Rumble matches themselves, there will be enough storylines flowing through the evening that it may feel like that isn’t the case.
In non-Rumble business, the headliner is the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Fatal Four-Way match with Roman Reigns putting his title on the line against three challengers. AJ Styles, LA Knight and Randy Orton all have well documented beef with The Bloodline, but the question is whether they will be too busy fighting among themselves to keep their eyes on the prize.
Logan Paul will also put his title on the line in a United States Championship showdown with Kevin Owens. Though the build-up has focused largely on who can punch who harder, it’s another chance for Paul to show his stuff on the big stage with someone who can make any opponent look great.
The Rumbles could very well bookend those matches, with the Women’s match expected to lead off and Men’s match to close things out. The field for the former is largely still a mystery, while more than half of the entrants in the latter have been revealed ahead of time. CM Punk and Bayley are the betting favorites to be pointing at the WrestleMania sign, but WWE has done a great job (particularly on the men’s side) of making it feel like a number of people could win.
Who will own the most memorable moments? What surprises are in store? Let’s count down to 10 and head to the ring.
