Anthony Edwards’ wild self-alley-oop off the backboard is the best dunk of the NBA season (so far)

How did Anthony Edwards even decide to try this during the course of an NBA game?!

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards tried one of the most daring moves you will ever see in an NBA game.

During a victory over the Grizzlies at Target Center in Minnesota on Thursday, the 22-year-old guard successfully attempted a dunk that even the most audacious dunker couldn’t have even dreamed about trying during NBA action.

Kyle Anderson dished to Nickeil Alexander-Walker, who passed to Edwards near the logo. Then after dribbling from the perimeter toward the free-throw line, Edwards tried a couple of crossover moves on his defender.

After a fakeout got his man to bite, then from the nail, he tossed the ball off the backboard. Edwards then made his way toward the restricted area of the paint and took off to complete a self-lob dunk attempt.

This was a fully absurd sequence of events that you would sooner see in an AND1 Mixtape than in a professional basketball game.

Edwards had 26 of his 28 points in the second half, but nothing was more memorable than this dunk. No matter if it was improvized or planned, it was arguably the best dunk anyone has had so far this season.

Because he plays for the Timberwolves, meanwhile, someone set this fun highlight to the music of the Minnesota-based rapper Atmosphere. Here is what that looks and sounds like:
