Rutgers lacrosse: Shane Knobloch, Ross Scott named Preseason All-Americans

Three from Rutgers men’s lacrosse get preseason accolades.

On Wednesday, USA Lacrosse Magazine released its Preseason All- Americans list and Rutgers was well represented. Two Scarlet Knights made the list, including Shane Knobloch, named a First Team Preseason All-American, and Ross Scott, named an Honorable Mention.

While the Scarlet Knights are full of talent, Knobloch and Ross receiving national recognition is no surprise. The talented duo are team captains this year and have already put together impressive resumes in Piscataway.

Knobloch, who will be entering his senior season, has been a scoring machine since making his collegiate debut. In 46 games, the Morristown native has recorded 107 career points, including 69 goals. He is also a two-time All-Big Ten selection and the 2021 Big Ten Freshman of the Year.

Like Knobloch, Scott has become a key player due to his performance on the field. In 52 games, the two-time all-conference selection has scored 89 goals and dished out 48 assists. He is also ranked as the No. 26 player in the nation by Inside Lacrosse.

Although expectations for the 2024 campaign are high, Rutgers is ready for the challenge. Over the last three years, the Scarlet Knights have posted a 32-14 record. In that span, they recorded 13 wins against ranked teams.

If Knobloch and Scott meet expectations, Rutgers will again be a team few want to face.
