LSU men’s basketball rises in NET despite Auburn loss

LSU’s failed comeback effort on Saturday may have proven to be significant in terms of the metrics.

It looked like the Tigers were heading for an ugly loss at Auburn on Saturday.

Though LSU’s men’s basketball team didn’t ultimately win the game, a 21-2 run when it was trailing by 28 points made the final score much more respectable in the 93-78 loss as the Tigers moved to 2-1 in SEC play.

While the team doesn’t want to take moral victories, that comeback effort may have been significant. Despite the loss, LSU actually moved up in the NET Rankings after the game.

It remains in the top 100 and sat at No. 95 on Sunday, though it did drop one spot to No. 96 on Monday. Still, that’s a net gain of three spots after the team entered Saturday’s game ranked No. 99.

LSU will be back in action on Wednesday as it has a huge opportunity at home against a 15-1 Ole Miss team.
