Ime Udoka met with cheers and boos as he returns to TD Garden to play the Boston Celtics

It was a bittersweet moment for all involved.

During the introductions ahead of the Boston Celtics‘ 145-113 blowout win over the Houston Rockets at TD Garden on Saturday night, the crowd in the stands waiting for the game to start at the Garden greeted former Celtics and current Rockets head coach Ime Udoka with a mix of cheers and boos.

Udoka’s return to the arena with the Rockets held a bit of special significance for Boston fans, as it is his first time back for the former Celtics coach since his suspension and eventual decision to part ways in the wake of the scandal leading to his dismissal.

It was a bittersweet moment for all involved, as Udoka undoubtedly helped put the Celtics in the dominant position they enjoy today under their current head coach Joe Mazzulla, but also saw themselves hurt greatly by his betrayal.
