Russell Wilson joined send-off party for Pete Carroll with other former Seahawks

The legacy of Pete Carroll is squarely in focus these days following his shocking departure as head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. For all his countless accolades as a football coach – both in college and the NFL – perhaps the true lasting legacy of Carroll will be his impact as a man. A teacher. A mentor. A leader of others.

The perfect example of this is how many former players came to celebrate Carroll at his home… including his former star quarterback, Russell Wilson.

Plenty has been written over the last 24 months about Wilson’s departure from Seattle. It is safe to say it was not the most graceful of divorces, as they rarely are. Yet here he was, back in the Emerald City with his fellow Super Bowl champions to celebrate the man who led them together.

Even Richard Sherman, who has been a known critic of Wilson’s, was there, and the two enjoyed each other’s company. Carroll even took the time to mention what was said between the two:

Quite frankly, the whole evening appeared to be a “who’s who” of Seahawks lore.

The past few days have been an overpouring of love and affection shown towards Carroll. From fans, former players, Seattle media members, and those who work in the Seahawks organization. Carroll’s impact on those he coached and his community is undeniable.

The Wizard of Oz himself said it best: “A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others”
