LA Knight says age no worry for him: ‘I’m in some damn good shape’

LA Knight isn’t concerned that his rise to WWE superstardom came after he was already 40.

As overnight sensations go, LA Knight sure has put in his time first.

The Megastar more than paid his dues in various promotions before his meteoric rise since the fall of 2022, going from mid-card to main event on a parabolic trajectory. He’d be the kind of talent that WWE could safely bank on for years to come, if not for one thing: He turned 41 in November.

That’s a fact that is brought up often when breaking down Knight’s chances of appearing in, say, a WrestleMania main event. It’s almost certainly not happening this year, and common sense would suggest that his window is short.

If you’ve seen Knight do his thing, however, it should come as no surprise that his self-confidence outweighs his age concerns. As he told INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, he’s put in the work to ensure he’s not going to have to stop performing at the top level for some time (h/t Fightful for the transcript).

… as many times I’ve been told no, as many times, maybe I’ve shot myself in my own foot or slipped on a banana peel, or whatever it is, I need to will this thing into existence. So far 2023 has been a hell of a climb and making that happen. And so my goal is to just continue on in 2024 and 2025 and who knows from there. And you know, people want to look at the age number, but my God, I’m in some damn good shape.

Having already defied the odds several times over just to make it to the point where he’s been in a premium live event title match against Roman Reigns, it would seem unwise to bet against anything Knight does. Maybe Father Time really is undefeated, but the Megastar is going to keep fighting him off as long as possible.
