Former Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan was doing a live spot on a show when he found out that his former team was firing his former head coach, Mike Vrabel — and his reaction was about what you’d expect.
Lewan was a guest on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Tuesday to discuss his alma mater, Michigan, winning the National Championship when the news broke.
Not only was Lewan surprised, the former Pro Bowler also expressed his belief that Vrabel didn’t deserve to be let go.
“That is nuts,” Lewan said. “I knew there was clamoring going on in the inside… You could point a lot of fingers, but I didn’t think the finger you could truly point at was Vrabel. He’s a guy that — damn, Rich. I can’t believe this is happening right now while we’re talking. Oh my God.”

Lewan played for Vrabel for five of his nine seasons with the Titans and the two had a good relationship, so his support for the head coach is no surprise.
Lewan wasn’t the only player Vrabel coached to be surprised at the move.
Running back Derrick Henry, who is a free agent in 2024, told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini that he was “shocked” the Titans let Vrabel go.
