Report: Titans fire head coach Mike Vrabel

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly fired head coach Mike Vrabel.

In what is a shocking move, the Tennessee Titans have reportedly fired head coach Mike Vrabel.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Vrabel is out as Titans head coach after six seasons. Schefter adds that owner Amy Adams Strunk “wanted fresh perspective in the coaching staff after a 6-18 stretch over the last two seasons, including 1-9 in division games.”

The fact that Vrabel is gone isn’t the shocking part, as the expectation he was on his way out has gained plenty of steam in the last few weeks, and especially in the last few days.

The shocking part comes from the fact that the Titans didn’t trade their head coach, who figured to garner a high draft pick in a trade. Now, Vrabel will be free to join any team he so desires, with the New England Patriots figuring to be among the top candidates, assuming they fire Bill Belichick.

A few weeks ago, I would have blasted the Titans for not keeping Vrabel, and I’m still not happy with the fact that they didn’t end up trading him for something.

However, based on rumors, it was quite clear Vrabel wasn’t happy here and there’s no sense in keeping a coach who feels that way. Either you’re 100 percent in or you’re not, and I think it’s safe to say he was the latter.
