PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers had a tough battle on their hands on Saturday when they played host to the Utah Jazz. Playing on the second night of a back-to-back, the Sixers entered the matchup missing three starters: Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, and De’Anthony Melton all to injury.
It looked like it would be a blowout early as the Jazz were getting to the basket with ease. However, the Sixers eventually buckled down on the defensive end and they forced Utah into a slew of mistakes to keep them in the game. Despite the fight, the Sixers ultimately came up short 120-109 to the Jazz. Philadelphia shot just 40.4% on the night compared to 57.5% for Utah.
Tyrese Maxey had 25 points and nine assists for the Sixers, Paul Reed had 16 points and six rebounds, Kelly Oubre Jr. added 24 points, four rebounds, and four assists, and Patrick Beverley had 12 and seven assists off the bench. Mo Bamba added six and five rebounds while Marcus Morris Sr. added 15 points and six rebounds and KJ Martin had nine points.
