Packers rule out RB A.J. Dillon and S Rudy Ford for Week 18 vs. Bears

The Packers ruled out RB A.J. Dillon and S Rudy Ford on the final injury report of Week 18 vs. the Bears.

Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said running back A.J. Dillon and safety Rudy Ford will both be ruled out for Sunday’s regular season finale against the Chicago Bears.

Both players missed all three days of practice this week.

Dillon is dealing with a broken thumb, but a stinger suffered in last Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings is the injury that will keep him out in Week 18. Ford injured his hamstring against the Vikings.

Dillon will finish his 2023 season with 178 rushes for 613 yards and two touchdowns and 22 catches for 223 yards. His 836 total yards and two total touchdowns are both his lowest marks in a season since his rookie year.

Ford played in 13 games and made a career-high nine starts. He currently leads the team with two interceptions.

Without Dillon, the Packers will likely use Patrick Taylor as Aaron Jones’ top backup. The team could elevate Kenyan Drake from the practice squad or activate Emanuel Wilson from injured reserve to add depth at running back.

Without Ford, the Packers will almost certainly roll with Darnell Savage and Jonathan Owens as the two starters at safety. Rookie Anthony Johnson Jr. has operated as the primary backup.

Linebacker Isaiah McDuffie, who suffered neck and head injuries against the Vikings, is doubtful to play against the Bears. He missed all three practices this week and would need to clear concussion protocol to have a chance to play.

Left guard Elgton Jenkins, tight end Luke Musgrave, outside linebacker Preston Smith and receivers Christian Watson and Jayden Reed are among the players listed as questionable.

Packers Wire will have more on the final injury report later Friday.
