Kyle Kuzma listed as ideal trade target for Warriors

The veteran forward was listed as an ideal trade target for the Golden State Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors season hasn’t gone to plan.

They’re 11th in the Western Conference with a 16-17 record. They’ve dealt with injury issues to multiple players. Some of their primary rotation players have yet to find their rhythm despite the fast-approaching midpoint of the regular season.

As such, Golden State could look to the trade market in a bid to turn their season around. Adding some additional size and scoring on the wings could be a potential way to improve the overall production of the team. According to Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report, Kyle Kuzma could be a solid fit within Kerr’s rotation.

“The Dubs don’t quite have the assets to chase some of the biggest names on the market, but they might have enough to add Siakam or Kuzma,” Buckley reasoned. “Those aren’t Tier 1 stars, but they might be capable of being the second or third options on a contender, provided the primary option is good enough (Curry clearly is) and the roster has high-level support players around them (it would).”

Kuzma has developed into a reliable forward during his three years with the Washington Wizards. This season, he’s averaging 22.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists while shooting 46.8% from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range.

Buckley does stop short of discussing what it could take to acquire Kuzma. He has become a core part of the Wizards roster and continues to impress. However, if the Warriors decided he was the ideal fit for their team, they should have enough assets to entice the Wizards front office to the negotiating table.

Whether Mike Dunleavy Jr. decides to make a trade before the Feb. 8 trade deadline remains to be seen.
