Alabama has now lost both of its starting edge rushers to the 2024 NFL Draft. On Thursday morning, senior Chris Braswell announced that he was declaring for the 2024 NFL draft via Instagram.
Braswell, a Maryland native, spent four seasons in Tuscaloosa. The former five-star waited patiently behind former Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. for his turn to start. It paid off for him in the end.
Braswell had a stellar senior season for the Crimson Tide. He recorded 42 tackles, eight sacks, and three forced fumbles. Braswell was named a second-team All-SEC performer by the Associated Press as a result of his success on the field.
Alabama will certainly miss Braswell’s pass-rushing presence next season. He finished second on the team with eight sacks behind Dallas Turner who finished with 10 sacks on the season.
Braswell has the potential to be a fringe first-round pick. I would expect him to be taken on Day 1 or Day 2 of the 2024 NFL draft.
