At some point, we’re going to need to stop asking the question and just believe him.
Time and time again, Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has had his name thrown out as a candidate for other coaching jobs in the nation, and time and time again, he has shot them down, professing his unending love for the University of Oregon.
Leading up to the Fiesta Bowl against the Liberty Flames on Monday, Lanning met with national media members to preview the game and take questions. Once again, the topic came up about his future, and whether or not he would be in Eugene for a long time. Same question, same answer.
“This will be my final job as far as I’m concerned,” Lanning said, according to The Oregonian’s James Crepea.
Over the past couple of years, Lanning’s had his name connected to both the Auburn Tigers job and the Texas A&M Aggies job. Both times he has emphatically shut down the rumors. That will not stop the rumors from popping up, though, as Lanning is one of the best young coaches in the nation.
However, it’s becoming clear based on his answers that the Oregon coach has no intentions of leaving. At some point, people will start believing him when he says that.
