Takeaways from Colorado’s gutsy win over Washington

The shorthanded Buffs found a way to get it done against Washington

As far as sloppy games go, this one was exciting.

Colorado, down four scholarship players, missed nine free throws and far too many bunnies but still found a way in its Pac-12 opener on Friday night, beating Washington, 73-69. The Buffs were down seven points with about six minutes remaining before going on a 17-6 run to end things.

With the help of Eddie Lampkin Jr. and huge dunks from KJ Simpson and J’Vonne Hadley, the CU Events Center was the loudest it’s been all season. The Buffs’ home-court advantage played a huge factor, especially down the stretch.

Colorado is now 10-2 (1-0 Pac-12) with Washington State coming to Boulder on Sunday (noon MT).
