Jets ‘not closing door’ on Zach Wilson playing Sunday

The Jets are not yet ruling out Zach Wilson for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is still in the concussion protocol as the team gets set to begin practice this week in preparation for Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders. However, the Jets aren’t ruling out him still playing Sunday.

“We’re not closing the door yet,” Saleh said about Wilson’s chances for Sunday. Saleh also said Monday Wilson could miss practice this week but still come back and play Sunday. Saleh said “everything” has improved with Wilson, who left Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins late in the second quarter with what was eventually ruled a concussion after initially being reported as dehydration and then a non-concussion head injury.

Saleh said Monday if Wilson can’t play Sunday, it will be Trevor Siemian starting. Siemian replaced Wilson against the Miami and went 14 of 26 for 110 yards with two interceptions. If and when Wilson returns from protocol, he will remain the starter for the remainder of the season.
