Five home games against four different opponents have been added to Colorado’s future football schedule, the university announced Tuesday.
With the Buffs joining the Big 12 ahead of next season, previously scheduled nonconference games against Houston (2025-26) and Kansas State (2027-28) were voided.
Athletic director Rick George now has those dates filled with home games vs. Deleware (Sept. 6, 2025), Weber State (Sept. 12, 2026), Northern Illinois (Sept. 18, 2027) and Northern Colorado (Sept. 16, 2028). CU also announced that the UNC Bears will be coming to Boulder in 2031, filling a previously empty nonconference slot.
“With the expansion of the College Football Playoff, we want to be strategic leading into conference play with some Group of Five and FCS opponents earlier in the season,” George said in a press release. “I am confident this strategy will give us the best chance at a berth in the CFP, an expectation that Coach Prime and I both share.”
Colorado’s 2024 nonconference schedule features one home date against North Dakota State and a pair of road games against rivals Nebraska and Colorado State.
