NFC West running backs have been a problem for the Cardinals in 2023

NFC West running backs average 167.4 total yards and two touchdowns against the Cardinals in 2023.

The Arizona Cardinals’ defense has struggled in a lot of things. Their recent struggles are with getting sacks. They have none in their last three games.

But if one thing has been their Kryptonite, it has been running backs in the NFC West.

NFC West running backs have killed the Cardinals.

Here are the numbers from their five division games so far this season.

  • Week 4 at the 49ers: Christian McCaffrey – 106 rushing yards, 177 total yards, four touchdowns
  • Week 6 at the Rams: Kyren Williams – 158 rushing yards, one touchdown
  • Week 7 at the Seahawks: Kenneth Walker – 105 rushing yards, 111 total yards
  • Week 12 vs. the Rams: Kyren Williams – 143 rushing yards, 204 total yards from scrimmage, two touchdowns
  • Week 15 vs. the 49ers: Christian McCaffrey – 115 rushing yards, 187 total yards from scrimmage, three touchdowns

In five games, they have allowed five 100-yard games. The three backs have averaged 167.4 yards from scrimmage per game. They have scored 10 touchdowns in five games.

They still have one game left against the Seahawks in Week 18. Walker is coming off a 111-yard, one-touchdown performance for the Seahawks in a win over the Eagles.

Can the Cardinals salvage one good game against a division running back or will Walker make it six for six for NFC West backs against the Cardinals?
