The New England Patriots were busy on Monday making a couple of moves to shore up their roster.
KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported the team claimed former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nathan Rourke on waivers. It was a much-needed depth signing after the Los Angeles Chargers signed Will Grier off the Patriots’ practice squad. The team also lost backup Malik Cunningham to the Baltimore Ravens last week.
So they clearly needed to make a move with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe being the only quarterbacks left on the roster.
They also boosted the running back room by reportedly signing former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ke’Shawn Vaughn to the practice squad. Vaughn was a member of the 2020 Buccaneers team that won a Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center.

The former third-round draft pick wasn’t utilized much in Tampa Bay, and he’s still working to find a more consistent role for an NFL team. Rhamondre Stevenson is currently out with an ankle injury, and the Patriots are leaning heavily on Ezekiel Elliott as their lead back.
Kevin Harris made a strong case to be the No. 2 option after scoring a touchdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. But there could be opportunities for Vaughn to get into the mix as well.
With three games left in the season, the Patriots are making the necessary moves that get them to the finish line.
