The Auburn Tigers put on a show at Neville Arena on Sunday, blowing out Power 5 opponent USC 91-75.
Bruce Pearl’s team scored over 85 points for the third straight contest, once again getting contributions from multiple players.
Starters [autotag]Jaylin Williams,[/autotag], [autotag]Johni Broome[/autotag], [autotag]Aden Holloway[/autotag], and [autotag]Denver Jones[/autotag] all managed double-figures in the win.
The quartet contributed 52 of Auburn’s 91 points in the game.
While the scoring was a bright spot again, Auburn’s defense behind “The Jungle” at Neville Arena was the real story.
The Trojans backcourt of Boogie Ellis and Isiah Collier was solid but Andy Enfield’s team didn’t get much production from anyone outside of their two star guards.
USC shot just 40% as a team on the road, connecting on 6/19 3-point attempts. The Trojans also turned the ball over 15 times, letting the Tigers’ defense rack up 9 total steals.
Center [autotag]Dylan Cardwell[/autotag] was the leader of a pest-like Tigers’ defense on Sunday afternoon. The senior played only 17 minutes but managed to cause more disruption than a Tiger let loose in a petting zoo, collecting 2 blocks and 3 steals in the blowout win.
Auburn seemingly has found their groove over the last three games of the season. Bruce Pearl and company will hope to stay hot to close out 2023 before the SEC schedule kicks off when the calendar turns to 2024.
As for USC, the Trojans have fallen to 5-5 on the season and 0-2 since the return of guard Bronny James.
