Shorthanded Celtics clobber Magic at home in revenge game

All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown said this was their “biggest game of the season” after the win.

The Boston Celtics snapped a four-game losing streak against the Orlando Magic at TD Garden on Friday in something of a revenge game given Boston’s recent struggles vs. this young and long ball club. The Celtics were short-handed missing several key players, but still pulled off a dominant 128-111 victory.

All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown said this was their “biggest game of the season” after the win and the team responded well to being down multiple key players. Brown had 18 points while fellow star forward Jayson Tatum recorded a quiet 30 points. Backup forward Sam Hauser and reserve guard Payton Pritchard were catalysts off the bench, with Hauser notching 11 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and a career-high 4 steals and Pritchard exploding for 21 points on 6-of-7 3-point shooting.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla praised the bench guys for stepping up when called upon.
