NFL wide receivers are in a tough spot. Often the most talented and athletic players on a team, they are heavily dependent on the play of their quarterback for any sort of success. This is the position Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens finds himself in this season and he isn’t handling it very well.
But offensive coordinator Eddie Faulkner is aware of the problem and he understands it is important to find ways to get the football into Pickens hands. But with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback and even Kenny Pickett, creating opportunities is a challenge.
Faulkner talked to the media and he said all the right things about Pickens and making him a bigger part of the offense. But he concedes that they have to throw him the football. When you have an elite player sometimes you just have to force them the football and see what happens.
