As we continue to count down the days until Auburn’s date with Maryland in the Music City Bowl on Dec. 30, we will continue to take a deep dive into Auburn’s production from the 2023 regular season.
So far, we have examined snap counts, overall offensive production, and true freshmen output. Today, it is time to check out the most reliable wide receivers for Auburn quarterbacks in 2023.
Consistency, or lack thereof, was evident when it came to Auburn’s passing game this season. Auburn quarterback [autotag]Payton Throne[/autotag] threw for less than 100 yards in four of the Tigers’ 12 games this season and threw for over 150 passing yards just five times.
Looking at receiver production, 20 players were thrown to this season. Out of the 266 targets, Auburn receivers caught just 168 passes for 1,885 yards and 17 touchdowns according to data from Pro Football Focus. Eight players were targeted more than 10 times this season, and only five of those players caught more than 50% of their targeted attempts.
