Why Titans – Dolphins and Packers – Giants are on MNF (and the ManningCast!) at the exact same time

Here’s why there are two NFL games on at the exact same time on Monday.

If you’re realizing there are two NFL games — the Tennessee Titans vs. the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers against the New York Giants — for you to watch on Monday night, you may have also just realized that they’re on at the exact same time at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Not exactly a double-header. More like a both-at-the-same-time kind of thing. And it’ll be doubly fun for the ManningCast on ESPN2, with Peyton and Eli Manning and their guests watching both games at the same time.

Why would ESPN do that? Let’s start with the Mannings — it’ll take the wackiness we see week in and out and make it crazier. It’ll definitely be fun to watch them try to handle it.

As for the games themselves? Our Mike Sykes wrote about this earlier in the year and pointed out that ESPN is testing out multi-game strategies when it comes to NFL primetime games.

They’ve staggered start times and now they’re trying them at the same time, helping the network figure out what viewers prefer and maybe their habits — will they treat Monday night like they do every NFL regular-season Sunday?

We’ll see!
