The North Carolina women’s basketball program claimed the last spot in this week’s Associated Press Poll rankings.
UNC slid down one spot from No. 24 to No. 25 after going 1-1 last week. They handled business against UNCG, beating the Spartans 81-66 before losing 76-64 to No.17 UCONN.
The Tar Heels had a tough start against ranked opponents, going 0-3 against teams in the AP top 25. Despite that, UNC has handled business against non-ranked opponents and nearly gave South Carolina their first upset of the season.
The schedule will ease up for UNC moving forward, with their next four games coming against non-ranked opponents.

UNC has shown the ability to fight with the big dogs in college basketball but has failed to close it when it matters. The other concern is their lack of scoring options.
