Nick Mullens comes in as Vikings quarterback vs. Raiders

Nick Mullens ended up giving the Vikings offense the spark they needed

The Minnesota Vikings have decided that the Josh Dobbs experiment may have reached its end. Nick Mullens replaced Dobbs midway through the fourth quarter.

Dobbs finishes his day going 10-of-23 for 63 yards while adding 21 yards on the ground on five carries.

After a couple of magical weeks to start his run, Dobbs and this Vikings offense have looked akin to an animal that has unfortunately stumbled into some quicksand. The offense looked disjointed. The passing game was pedestrian at best and Dobbs had regressed to playing near the bottom of the league.

After he struggled against the Chicago Bears, head coach Kevin O’Connell mulled over the switch to Mullens but decided that Dobbs had not done enough to lose his status as a starter.

Now, with the Raiders game still up for grabs and the playoffs still looming, coach O’Connell is asking for a spark from his backup.
