Ethan Miner has been busy in the transfer portal. The center from North Texas is garnering significant SEC offers and interest.
He has an official visit already planned this weekend at Mississippi State and there will be a midweek visit from another SEC program.
Shortly after entering the transfer portal, Miner said that he got a text from Rutgers head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].
Miner played his high school football at Kingswood-Oxford (West Hartford, Connecticut). He grew up rooting for the New York Giants.
“Coach Schiano had texted me and he basically just said like this, my number just locked me in and then that was that’s pretty much it,” Miner said on Tuesday.
“I am from Connecticut so it would be kind of nice being close to home. Obviously, I’ve been in the south for the last six years so I know my family would be really happy if I got closer to home.”
Given the strong level of interest since he entered the transfer portal, Miner said he might need to take his visits into January.

A pair of SEC programs are making an initial push in Miner’s recruitment this week along with other Power Five programs. North Carolina just recently offered him.
“I’m going to Mississippi State this weekend. UCF wants me to come out for visit the weekend after,” Miner said.
“I kind of have to plan that out because the Arkansas o-line coach is going to come do a home visit (Wednesday) night. And I’m assuming they’re going to want me to follow it up official visit also.”
The visit from Arkansas will be an in-home visit, Miner said.
“So from my understanding, obviously, their center’s graduating this year. so they need a center and they need to fill in a couple more spots on the line as well,” Miner said.
“I do have my wife’s family from Southeast Missouri. So it’s fairly close to Fayetteville and also, her grandparents live in Little Rock so we do have some family in that area too.”
