WASHINGTON–The Philadelphia 76ers paid a visit to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday looking to put a stop to their current 2-game losing skid. With their full complement of players back for this one, one figured that the Sixers would be able to pick up a rather easy win over the struggling Wizards.
However, that would not be the case. This is the NBA, after all. The Wizards entered the night with a 3-16 record, but they have professionals on their side as well and they opened up a lead as large as 10 while giving the Sixers all they could handle. Eventually, Philadelphia buckled down and walked away with a 131-126 victory thanks in large part to Joel Embiid who was dominant all night with 50 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
Tyrese Maxey added 26 points and seven assists, De’Anthony Melton had 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists, Tobias Harris had six and seven rebounds, and Nic Batum had nine, six rebounds, and five assists. Kelly Oubre Jr. had 12 off the bench in his return from an 11-game absence.
