Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels are off to a good start this season, cracking the top 10 in the latest Associated Press poll. As they continue to navigate this season, their focus is also on recruiting as well.
One prospect they have high on their recruiting board for 2025 is five-star shooting guard Isiah Harwell. The Mount Pleasant, Utah native is one of the top players in the class and has a total of 20 offers in his recruitment and is drawing significant interest from several big programs.
But who exactly leads in his recruitment? One Rivals analyst believes two programs are in the lead — North Carolina and Gonzaga. Here is what Rob Cassidy of Rivals wrote:
There’s still plenty of time left in Harwell’s recruitment, so things could change as he continues to take visits. For the time being, however, Gonzaga and North Carolina feel like the clear frontrunners. The five-star guard’s second visit to Spokane could provide Gonzaga with the opportunity to separate itself from the pack, however, so February could be a massively important month for Harwell’s process.
That’s certainly great news for the Tar Heels. Harwell took an unofficial visit to UNC back in September and has also visited Gonzaga. He’s got a return visit to Gonzaga for February and it appears as the Bulldogs are UNC’s top competition for now.
There’s a long ways to go in his recruitment and while Harwell called UNC his dream school, they are no lock. Still, they are in a good position as it stands.
