Jaguars grab lead after trickeration backfires on Bengals

A trick play backfired big time on the Bengals

Zac Taylor had things going the Cincinnati Bengals’ way on Monday Night Football in Jacksonville.

In the third quarter tied at 21, he got cute and it backfired … big time.

Taylor called a trick play that was going to see wideout Tyler Boyd throw a pass across the field to Joe Mixon.

The only problem was the Jaguars’ Josh Allen got in the way of the throw and picked it off.

That set up a Trevor Lawrence quarterback sneak on fourth down from the 1-yard line.

After the PAT, it was Jacksonville’s lead, 28-21.

Taylor tried two trick plays. One turned into a seven-yard loss on a pass that quarterback Jake Browning caught. The second turned into a Jaguars TD.

Browning was 19-of-21 until the trick play so Taylor might have wanted to let his QB do the throwing.
