While the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season officially came to a close in early November with the season finale at Phoenix Raceway, the sport celebrated the year with its annual NASCAR Awards in Nashville on Thursday night.
The event honored many in the sport, including 2023 champion Ryan Blaney, who won his first Cup title by edging out fellow championship contenders Kyle Larson, William Byron and Christopher Bell. Also at the awards ceremony, Ty Gibbs was named Rookie of the Year, and Chase Elliott won the Most Popular Driver Award for the sixth consecutive season, as he continues chasing his father, Bill Elliott, with 16 Most Popular Driver Awards.
