Dolphins rise in power rankings after beating Jets in Week 12

Miami moves up for the first time since before the bye week,

The Miami Dolphins, after a short turnaround, defeated the New York Jets on Friday to earn their eighth win of the season.

Through 12 weeks, Mike McDaniel’s team has put together an 8-3 record, but there are still some questions about whether or not they can compete with the top teams that the league has to offer.

With the season more than halfway through, Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey has been producing weekly power rankings for the NFL. Last week, following their win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Miami remained at No. 8. Now, after another win, they’ve jumped up to No. 7.

Here’s what Bailey had to say about the Dolphins:

“The result was never in doubt for the Dolphins against the Jets. That pick-six off the Hail Mary by Jevon Holland was pretty rad, though, and gave the game much-needed entertainment.”

Ahead of the Dolphins, at this point, are the Jacksonville Jaguars (No.6), Dallas Cowboys (No. 5), San Francisco 49ers (No. 4), Baltimore Ravens (No. 3), Kansas City Chiefs (No. 2) and Philadelphia Eagles (No. 2).

The Detroit Lions losing to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving knocked them out and behind Miami.
