Scott Foster made headlines when he ejected Chris Paul during a recent game against the Phoenix Suns. The veteran point guard and game official have a long history between them. After the ejection, Paul revealed the NBA was aware of their long-standing dispute, and meetings had previously been held regarding their issues.
Yet, the nature of Paul’s issues with Foster is, for the most part, a mystery. In a recent episode of the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas shared what he believes is the root issue between the two veterans.
Paul has previously noted the animosity is regarding his son, and Arenas shares a story on what may have been the catalyst for the icy relationship between the pair.
Paul and Foster are unlikely to settle their issues any time soon. As such, it will be interesting to see whether Foster is tasked with officiating any more of Paul’s games this season, or whether the NBA will look to keep the two apart.
