The Boston Celtics faced a stinging defeat in their road game against the Orlando Magic on Friday afternoon, suffering their largest defeat of the season with a final score of 113-96. The Magic showed a higher level of intensity and determination throughout the game, outplaying the Celtics in terms of sheer desire, and the win underscored the Magic’s drive to prove themselves in the league and compete against established NBA players.
A recurring issue for the Celtics surfaced in the form of deficient defensive rebounding and yielding second-chance points. Instances of poor shot selection, inadequate transition defense, and an inability to protect leads are also areas needing improvement. A lack of touches for star forward Jayson Tatum on a night when Jaylen Brown was not connecting well anywhere on the floor was no small concern either.
