Foes became teammates this week when the Cleveland Browns signed former long-time Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to the practice squad.
Flacco played the Browns 21 times during his career – mostly during his time with the Ravens – where he saw his fair share of Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett. So, as a joke, Garrett said he chased Flacco throughout his first practice with the team.
“I stalked him a little bit,” Garrett said with a laugh Friday.
While Flacco has only been on the opposite end of 1.5 of Garrett’s 87.5 career sacks, he understands the terror of the 6-foot-4, 227-pound defensive end. And now that he’s on the same sideline, Flacco can appreciate Garrett as a teammate instead of as a rival.
“[Pass rushers] always look a little bit more inviting and friendly when they’re not in their uniform and helmet and shoulder pads,” Flacco said Wednesday. “But yeah, he’s a monster and he’s had a hell of a year, so definitely good to be on the same side as him.”
