Report: Mississippi State QB Will Rogers expected to enter the transfer portal

After four years in Starkville, it appears that Will Rogers will take his talents elsewhere.

With one more year of eligibility left, there was a decision to make for Mississippi State Bulldogs quarterback Will Rogers III. Less than 24 hours after the loss to the Ole Miss Rebels in the Egg Bowl, it appears that Rogers will test the transfer portal.

This hasn’t been the greatest year for Rogers, who has been dealing with injury but returned for the game against Southern Miss on Nov. 18. He finished the Egg Bowl with 207 yards passing on 39 attempts with a rushing touchdown.

In four seasons with the Bulldogs, Rogers has thrown for 12,315 yards with 94 touchdowns and 28 interceptions. His two best years came in 2021 and 2022 under the tutelage of the late Mike Leach. This year, he has looked like a shell of his former self. Perhaps it is time for the gunslinger, who is No. 2 on the SEC’s all-time passing list, to make a change.

There would be no shortage of suitors looking for an accurate quarterback who combined for 8,713 yards and 71 touchdowns between 2021 and 2022.
