Packers get small boost from win over Chargers in latest USA Today power rankings

The Packers moved up one spot to No. 25 in the USA Today NFL power rankings entering Week 12.

A come-from-behind win over Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers provided the Green Bay Packers with a one-spot jump in the latest NFL power rankings from USA Today.

After holding steady at No. 26 over the last two weeks, the Packers moved up to No. 25 following Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Chargers.

Here’s the Packers blurb from Nate Davis:

Sunday’s 322-yard passing outburst from QB Jordan Love cleared his previous career high by 33 yards. Thank you, Chargers defense.

Two teams fell below the Packers: the New York Jets, who are suddenly starting former Packers quarterback Tim Boyle on Sunday, and the Cincinnati Bengals, who lost Joe Burrow to a season-ending injury. The Chargers dropped two spots to No. 17.

The Packers have a chance to make a big statement in Week 12. A trip to play the No. 6 Detroit Lions in a nationally televised showdown on Thanksgiving Day provides Matt LaFleur’s team an opportunity to keep building momentum and make a big statement. An upset win over the Lions could put the Packers in a position to make a late-season run at a postseason spot.

This is a brutal two-game stretch coming up. Not only do the Packers go on the road to play the No. 6 team in the rankings, but they’ll host the No. 2 Kansas City Chiefs at Lambeau Field in Week 13. How do the Packers — who have won two of the last three games — stack up against the NFL’s best? We’re about to find out.
