NEW YORK — Brooklyn Nets guard Mikal Bridges is usually one of the players on the Nets that says things similar to what head coach Jacque Vaughn would say. Bridges’ latest assessment of what Brooklyn has to do moving forward was another example of that.
“Yeah, I think we just relaxed a little bit and with (a) team like this, you can’t,” Bridges said after putting up 18 points and three assists in Sunday’s 121-99 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Brooklyn put up a great fight against the 76ers in the first quarter as they were down just 23-22, but the situation changed in the second quarter.
“Just relaxed and not staying locked in at all times,” Bridges continued. With the way that the second quarter began, it seemed like the 76ers were going to get a run for their money. However, over the final four minutes of the period, Philadelphia went on a 20-5 run, putting Brooklyn behind 61-49 going into halftime. After that, it seemed like the game was over.
“So, knowing that’s the NBA and a four-point lead, if you’re down four, down two, you can flip to 12 quick,” Bridges said. “So, attention to detail for the whole game.”
