The people have spoken! In a recent media poll conducted by our sister site HoopsHype which ranked all 29 NBA arenas from best to worst based on the opinions of 35 media members who have traveled to various arenas across the country, TD Garden in Boston, MA emerged as the top-ranked NBA arena in the poll.
The Garden — as it is sometimes called — secured a total of 74.86% of the maximum possible vote from media members. The arena, home to the Boston Celtics as well as the NHL’s Boston Bruins, underwent a $70 million renovation in 2014 as well as a more recent upgrade in 2019. It has a total capacity of 19,156 (barring exceptional events when it has been slightly expanded), and opened in 1995 to replace the old Boston Garden immediately adjacent until torn down.
The criteria used in the media poll conducted by HoopsHype in their evaluation included the home crowd’s overall atmosphere and level of energy, the quality of the arena more generally, the available culinary offerings for fans to partake in, and the arena’s lighting.
