Celtics’ Jayson Tatum’s father Justin named Ilwarra Hawks interim head coach

Tatum originally joined the organization as a North American scout and Special Advisor to Basketball Operations.

The NBL’s Illawarra Hawks have decided to part ways with their head coach, Jacob Jackomas, effective immediately, following the team’s disappointing 2-7 start to the NBL24 season, with the team electing to name star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum‘s father Justin Tatum the ball club’s interim head coach according to a release from the league.

Hawks General Manager of Basketball Mat Campbell expressed the difficulty of the decision, acknowledging Jackomas’s hard work and wishing him success in his future coaching endeavors. “The club remains firmly committed to building a basketball program and an organization focused on sustained performance and success,” Hawks CEO Stu Taggart added.

Tatum originally joined the organization as a North American scout and Special Advisor to Basketball Operations. He also served as the associate head coach of the Global Women’s Basketball Association team St. Louis.
