Over the years, Logan Paul has dabbled quite a bit in boxing, even before he stepped into a ring for WWE. He and his brother Jake Paul have helped popularize the celebrity form of boxing, evolving the sport from its days of domination by fighters such as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and others.
But Paul won the United States Championship at WWE Crown Jewel, suggesting he will have a significant role on WWE programming as 2023 draws to a close and WrestleMania 40 season approaches.
Well, it seems Paul has decided to retire from boxing altogether and shift his focus to wrestling — possibly. He chuckled as he told FOX Business this, but he said that he has retired from boxing and will become a “full-time wrestler” (h/t Fightful for transcription).
Yeah, I think I’m retired from boxing. I’ve done enough going fully undefeated at 25-0. I’m going to be a wrestler now. No more money in boxing, every company is going broke. Full-time wrestler. Beat Rey Mysterio. Fair and square for the US Championship. It feels great. It was a dominant performance. Some frog splashes, some punches, it feels good.
When asked what’s next for him, Paul seemed ready for title challengers.
I have to defend this belt. There are going to be people coming after me. Seth Rollins, LA Knight, Cody Rhodes. Whoever wants it, they can come get it. Mr. Bad Bunny. Whoever wants it can come get it. I have stuff to do in WWE.
In 2021, according to Forbes, Paul and his brother earned a combined $40 million from boxing. While it hasn’t been disclosed how much he earned from his fight with Dillon Danis last month, retiring from boxing would mean leaving behind a significant sum of money. So, if Paul is genuinely committed to a full-time career with WWE, we’ll have to wait and see how things unfold.
