DJ Moore may be wearing a different jersey these days, but he’s still the same guy we all know and love.
On Thursday night, the cool Chicago Bears wide receiver faced the Carolina Panthers for the first time since being traded back in March. He was asked about the experience following his (new) team’s 16-13 triumph.
“I talked to some people, some people I didn’t talk to,” he told reporters with a smile. “But it’s alright. But my emotions wasn’t too high. I was pretty chill . . . I think. You gotta ask them. But, I think so.”
Unfortunately for Moore, his stats in Thursday night’s outing were as chill as his demeanor—as he totaled 58 yards on five receptions. They were also a far cry from what he put out in his last Thursday nighter, where he went for a career-high 230 yards and three touchdowns in a Week 5 win over the Washington Commanders earlier this season.
Regardless, he knows that those aren’t the numbers that ultimately matter.
“Yeah, it wasn’t the prettiest performance,” he said of Chicago’s showing. “But we found a way to win and that’s all that matters in the league.”
So, all in all, Moore didn’t give us a reboot of Steve Smith Sr.’s infamous “Blood and Guts” game. But, at the very least, he did help leave another bruise on the battered Panthers.
